Party Finger Foods - Easier on You and Your Guests (John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks)

One of the strongest trends in food and eating this year is party finger foods. The bite-sized delights are fun and easy to prepare, and are a simple way for guests to enjoy a nibble. Forget the messy dips and sauces and no need to hassle with plates and forks.

There are those who track food trends and eating styles. IFT says 5 of the best-selling new foods this year were bite-sized or hand-held. So whether you determine your menu based on keeping up with trends, or you simply want easy party food, anything you can pop into your mouth in a bite or two should be on your list.

Let's be straight, we aren't suggesting a table full of cheese and crackers. There are a variety of quick appetizers that fit the bill. From baked goodies to rolled tidbits, think about the spectrum of hot and cold, colors that invite, and a range of ingredients including vegetables, meats and seafood, and pastries.

There are also larger dishes that can be shrunken to bite-sized without losing too much in translation.

First a few suggestions. Invest in mini muffin tins. You can create party finger foods that are the perfect size and easy to bake.

Try making mini bite-sized tacos using wonton wrappers, chopped shrimp, ground beef, or even veggie ground round, bake in the mini tins, then top with a small dollop of sour cream, salsa, or even guacamole.

Fill the tins with separated biscuit dough to create a cup, then fill with chopped veggies and cheese, or add sprinkles of bacon or pieces of diced chicken.

If you do plan to go the cracker route, think of something interesting for a topper. If you use cheese, spread some hot or sweet jelly on top or a dried apricot or date. Use smoked salmon, a bit of cream cheese and a caper. Little mini meals make great, quick appetizers.

Presentation is always a key to success. Select beautiful platters that look great as the party finger food are snapped up. Garnish the plates with flowers, herbs, or other fun items. You can easily spread the dishes around the room for people to nibble wherever they are. Be sure to keep napkins nearby, but that's all you'll need!

Finger foods and bite-sized nibbles are a fun easy party food. Easy to eat, fun to make, and right on trend.

"Super-foods" are staples that research shows are richer in nutrients without the high calorie content. As a consequence they have so many health benefits, and they are not even expensive at all. The healthiest food that we have is full of essential vitamins and minerals. There are so many health foods already available out there. And they are already in grocery stalls but we just don?t buy enough of them. Once your grocery list is full of vibrant and healthy ingredients then you are on your way to a healthier lifestyle. And you can rest assured that you are doing what you need to do in order to lower your risk of developing diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and even certain forms of cancer. Green and Leafy Vegetables

Leafy green vegetables are super healthy foods and amongst the best of them is spinach which is very rich in iron. Here?s one important tip about spinach?it is most nutritious when eaten cooked and not raw as popularly believed. Spinach is a dark leafy green vegetable and they are the healthiest types containing not just vitamins, minerals and many other nutrients, but a lot of fiber as well. Eating a lot of dark green leafy vegetables Oatmeal, Cereals, and Whole-grain Bread

Oatmeal has so much fiber that if you take five to ten grams a day, you lower the bad cholesterol in your system. Other fiber rich foods such as cereals and whole grain bread are also ideal diet staples because they have a lot of iron and Vitamin B as well. In addition, slow release carbs such as oatmeal increases fat burning when eaten a few hours before exercising. Whole-grain bread has a similar effect, and that is why they are ultimately the better choice over regular white bread.

Citrusy Fruits Antioxidants are widely known for their anti-carcinogenic effect. They contain free radicals that help lower the risk of developing certain cancers. Citrus fruits have a lot of antioxidants aside from the vitamins that they have become popular for. One lemon for example has all the Vitamin C that you need for one day. And that?s not the only benefit of having one lemon a day. It also causes an increase in high density cholesterol. One way to take your lemon is to squeeze some into your cup of green tea. Enjoy Great Recipes with cheesy Tomato Paste and Pizza Sauce (Admiral Foods)

Seems yummy? It is. Even the words like pizza sauce and tomato paste are mouth-watering. If you are a food buff and love to try out different recipes using different ingredients, this stuff is simply outstanding to add up to the taste.

Well, pizza sauce is a common garnishing ingredient for pizzerias. Whether you're making pizza at home or baking the frozen one, few sprinkles of pizza sauce will suffice to add up to flavor.

These are available readymade though, you can also try it at home. For people looking forward to cut costs, it is rather better option to make instant pizza sauce.

Homemade Pizza Sauce with Tomato Paste
The sauce can be made from myriad of tomato products from canned tomatoes to crushed tomatoes to fresh tomatoes. You can resort to the easiest one and save yourself the fuss, simple use tomato paste.

You can easily find the paste in the market in small cans. It costs very low and tastes very bold which, I feel, is some of the virtues. To turn the paste into pizza sauce, add dried herbs like parsley, rosemary, oregano etc. Parsley is the perfect to start though. Now, add crushed pepper flakes, garlic flakes and salt. You can also add a pinch of sugar, depending on your taste.

The next step is, to add liquids. There are many options to choose from:

* White wine vinegar - adds tart and crisp flavor
* Olive oil- adds sheen to the sauce
* Balsamic vinegar- for a bold flavor
* Water - doesn't add any flavor but gives you the consistency you desire.

In usual 1/4 to 1 cup addition of liquid will give you the desired consistency. If you want it to spread easily, adding more of olive oil will be helpful. Once you are done with this, add spices to adjust to the liquid levels. Add more salt and pepper and taste. With this, your instant pizza sauce is ready to use. You can use right away or keep it in refrigerator for a couple of hours so that the taste develops further. The choice is yours!

You can try it out and share your experiences with friends and family. One thing is sure though, making the sauce at home is very simple with no extra efforts required. Try it out and add flavor to your dishes.

In fact, tomato paste is a multipurpose agent. Adding just basic ingredients, you can make it fit to be added to different cuisines including Greek, Thai and of course, Italian. Store simple tomato paste and add different spices as and when required. All the best for your cooking experiments!

Avoid too Much Fatty Foods & Stay Healthy (India Network)

Fat has rather wrongly been given a bad name; hence the huge range of low fat products available. But not all fats are unhealthy. Some fats are very good for us - the essential fats (omega 3 and 6) are vital for good hormone, heart, brain and skin health. These fats can be found in oily fish such as salmon and mackerel, and nuts, seeds and their oils. Even the 'bad' saturated fats found in dairy foods and meat are necessary in moderation to keep us healthy. Saturated fats only become harmful if eaten in excess when they can cause serious health problems including obesity, strokes and cardiovascular disease.

By far the big baddy when it comes to fats are hydrogenated fats or Tran's fats, which are found in many processed foods such as biscuits, cakes and margarines. These fats are artificial and have been linked to heart problems, obesity and diabetes. Fortunately, awareness of the negative effect these fats have on our health is growing and some countries and manufacturers have banned them, although they are yet to be banned in the UK. "Needn't" foods are high in fat or added sugars, prepared using a high-fat cooking method such as frying, or have a large amount of energy compared to their essential nutrient content.

Avoiding fat entirely in your diet isn't necessarily a good idea. However, reducing consumption of "bad" fats through better choices can make substantial improvements in your health. Some of the following tips can help. Exercise may not be enough when you need to burn belly fat. Belly fat is the toughest fat to lose on your body. A variety of things influence belly fat, including stress. Stress is one of the biggest factors, but some foods you eat increase this type of fat as well. Before you continue to indulge in the bad stuff, here are 6 foods to avoid when trying to burn belly fat.

One of your favorite snacks may be giving you belly fat. Most potato chip brands are cooked in hydrogenated oils. This type of oil is called a Trans fat. Trans fat is known to increase cholesterol, contribute to heart disease and increase weight. Chips that don't contain hydrogenated oil may have high amounts of fat from other oils they're fried in. There are baked and low fat potato chips on the market that make better choices. However, be aware of the calorie count. High calories still contribute to belly fat. With a coffee shop on nearly every street corner, it is easy to get our daily caffeine fix but your latte habit won't be doing your fat intake any favors. A large latte can contain nearly one third of a woman's daily recommended fat intake. Cappuccinos are slightly more saintly as they are made with a smaller amount of milk. Frappes and hot chocolate can also score highly in the fat stakes - a large hot chocolate made with whole milk can have the same fat content as three hot dogs.

It is essential for everyone to follow a healthy diet routine. India Food Network is a website that provides a wide array of healthy recipes, cooking tips and much more. Avoid the junk food and stay healthy.
